UEFA Charges United, Valencia For Late Arrival

European football governing body, UEFA, has charged Manchester United and Valencia for lateness to their Champions League game on Tuesday night.

The match which ended 0 – 0 kicked off at an extended kick-off time of 20:05 BST (9:05pm) Nigerian time.

The two teams agreed to the rescheduled time but still made it five minutes late to Old Trafford.

United cited lack of Police escort as the reason for their lateness while Valencia players were fined because they left the hotel late.

Greater Manchester Police said it had been consulting with clubs for months over their stoppage of escort for clubs unless when there is a risk to players.
