On this episode of Sports On The Couch, we engage Ayo Akinfemisoye, a Lagos State Scrabble Coach, on the state of the sport in Nigeria.

Scrabble which is touted as the sport which highlights Nigeria better on the global stage, has been excluded from the National Sports Festival holding in Abuja, this December.

Nigeria is ranked the number one English Scrabble playing nation by the World English Scrabble Players Association, WESPA.

The country has won 12 out of the 13 editions of African championships.

Nigerian, Wellington Jighere, became the first black player to win the World Championship in 2015.
