Real Madrid boss, Julen Lopetegui, is confident four-time Champions League winner with the club, Gareth Bale, can fill the void created by Cristiano Ronaldo‘s exit.
Ronaldo left Madrid for Juventus in July, leaving the club with an unanswered choice of who to buy to replace the Portuguese talisman.
The 28-year-old wanted an exit under former boss, Zinedine Zidane, due to failure to hold down a regular first-team spot.
“Gareth is happy to play at Real Madrid,” Lopetegui said.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the main players in the recent history of Real Madrid. He expressed a desire to leave and we allowed him to.
“Gareth Bale is a magnificent player, with so many qualities. He can help fill the void.”
Lopetegui joined Real shortly before the start of the World Cup in Russia. The 51-year-old never managed the Welshman and Ronaldo in one team but a Bale-Benzema combination is one he is enthusiastic about.
As Madrid prepare to take on Manchester United in the International Champions Cup in Miami, on Tuesday, the manager is excited about his team.
Lopetegui said Bale “worked extremely well” with France forward Karim Benzema in training, adding: “If this is the squad I have at start of season I will be a happy man.”
He added: “It is the start of an exciting path for us.”
