Officials of the Federation of International Football, FIFA, on Thursday wet with a delegation of the Government of Ghana to resolve the crisis rocking football in the country.

FIFA, in the week, issued a suspension threat to Ghana and Nigeria due to government meddling in football affairs.

The Ghana delegation led by the Minister for Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah (MP) was received by that of FIFA led by the president, Gianni Infantino and comprising Madam Fatma Samoura, and other representatives of the world body.

In the meeting, FIFA and Ghana delegation resolved to work together to find a solution to the problem in the country to prevent a FIFA suspension.

The FIFA and Government of Ghana Resolution:

  1. The Presidents of Ghana and FIFA have committed to work together to offer leadership in reforming football administration in Ghana and in Africa;
  2. FIFA upon consultation with the GoG and CAF shall establish a normalization committee to replace the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association;
  3. FIFA in consultation with the GoG and CAF shall appoint persons with integrity and competence to constitute the membership of the normalization committee;
  4. FIFA upon consultation with the GoG and CAF shall establish a normalization committee to replace the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association;
  5. FIFA in consultation with the GoG and CAF shall appoint persons with integrity and competence to constitute the membership of the normalization committee;
  6. Satisfied with the above measures, the GoG shall take steps to discontinue the process for the winding up of the Ghana Football Association.

In a similar effort to mitigate the effect of a sanction, Nigeria’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, requested to meet with FIFA officials but was refused audience.
