Alex Iwobi Scores As Arsenal Lose 3-2 To Chelsea

Alex Iwobi scored Arsenal’s second as the Emirates club lost its second straight game in the current season, against Chelsea.

Fresh from an opening day 3-0 win over Huddersfield, Chelsea continued with an early goal, nine minutes through Pedro.

The Spaniard connected with the pass from Marcos Alonso before driving the ball past Petr Cech, in the bottom right corner.

Alvaro Morata increased the Blues’ lead 11 minutes later.

Morata charged into Arsenal’s goal area, beating Mustafi to a challenge on a Cesar Azpilicueta‘s pass before hitting it with the left which sent Cech to the wrong way.

Arsenal pulled one back in 37 minutes with an effort from Henrikh Mkhitaryan; the Armenian was also involved in Iwobi’s goal.

Mkhitaryan’s left footed strike from outside the box beat Kepa as it skid right down the bottom left corner.

The player’s cross four minutes later found Iwobi inside Chelsea’s centre box for the Nigerian to strike high into the centre of the goal post.

The first half ended with the teams levelled at 2-2, opening the game for a stiffer second half.

The second half kicked off with less steam through into the first ten minutes and continued until the introduction of Eden Hazard who replaced Willian after 61 minutes of play.

The Belgium international would later be involved in Chelsea third and last goal game of the game.

Alonso’s brace, with an assist from Hazard in 81 minutes restored the lead for Chelsea.

The 27-year-old Spain international’s centre-box left footed shot once again beat Cech, hitting the inside centre of the net.

The result makes it Arsenal’s second in the new season and Chelsea’s win in two games.
